10 Foods You Should Never Refrigerate

10 Foods you should not refrigerate

1. Hot sauce
This item can last in the pantry for three years.

2. Potatoes
When refrigerated, potatoes change their taste. The best way to store them would be in a paper bag (plastic bags hold moisture and speed decay). They should last for about three weeks.

3. Bread
Refrigerating bread dries it out faster. To keep bread for longer, slice out what you’ll need for four days and freeze the rest.

4. Onions
The mesh bag that they come in is the best way to let them last longer as the bag allows air to come in. Make sure not to put the onion and potatoes close as the onion gas will rot the potatoes.

5. Oils
Place these in a drawer, high temperatures and extremely low temperatures can affect their performance.

6. Garlic
Oils can get thick and cloudy when if you place them in a refrigerator. The only oils that must be refrigerated are nut oils. Otherwise you should keep them in the pantry.

7. Tomatoes
They can get moldy in the fridge, so leave them on a counter (out of plastic bags). If you want to speed the ripening, store the tomatoes in a paper bag. Once they’re ripe, they will last for about three days.

8. Melons
Melons should be left out of the fridge if you want them to properly ripen and sweeten.

9. Honey
Honey will crystalize and be very hard to use when kept cold. It is perfectly fine to keep at a room temperature almost indefinitely.

10. Winter Squashes
There are many types of squashes like acorn, butternut, delicate, and spaghetti that can last up to a month or sometimes more when stored in the pantry.
