Hydrogen peroxide
Hydrogen peroxide is a great way to eliminate black mold and it’s cheap. For this, you will need a bottle of 3% hydrogen peroxide and a spray bottle. Spray the areas that are infested with mold and let it sit for 15 minutes. Scrub the area and wipe it off to remove any spores that are left. Another way you can use this is by making a solution of hydrogen peroxide, vinegar, and baking soda and spray the wall. Make sure to keep these solutions in a dark bottle to preserve its properties.
Vinegar
Tea tree oil solution
This is a more expensive solution but bear in mind that you’ll need just 2 teaspoons which will last for a long time. Mix the tea tree oil (2 teaspoons) with two cups of water and pour it in a spray bottle. Spray the moldy walls and leave it on. Do not wash this off the walls; the scent will gradually fade away.
Citrus seed extract and water
This solution works wonders and its odorless which is a plus over other solutions doesn’t have. Citrus seed extracts are scentless, which is good for people who have a sensitive nose or for someone who has small children. Mix 20 drops of this extract with two cups of water and pour it into a spray bottle and spray the walls. Another benefit is that you don’t have to scrub this one just leave it on.
Baking soda
Baking soda is another cheap but effective solution for your mold problem. Combine the baking soda with some water and pour it in a spray bottle. Spray the moldy walls and leave it on for a while. Afterwards scrub and wipe the area with a damp cloth, eliminating all the mold spores along the way. Plus, baking soda also doesn’t leave your house smelling sour afterwards, which is great.
If you don’t have a problem with mold quite yet but you still want to prevent it from happening, wipe all the damp area regular, spray vinegar on theses area, buy a mist humidifier and watch out for any possible leaks in your house.
