Undoubtedly, having your own homegrown vegetables is much better than buying them from the grocery. Although it requires some time, the benefits you will feel are numerous. It will save you money and you need no farm; you can do it indoors.
You will need fresh scraps, and once you are growing the plant make sure you give them enough water and sunlight.
1. Carrots
Carrot greens may be re grown from its carrot tops. Place the carrot tops into a container with a little water and put it in a place that receives a lot of light or on a window sill.
Although carrot greens are pretty bitter, they taste amazing when you add chopped up garlic and a touch of vinegar, they are also great for salads.
For this, you can use the leftover celery bottom. Cut the base off and place it in a shallow bowl with a little water and make sure it is exposed to sunlight.
The leaves will thicken and grow with time in the middle of the base. Transfer it to soil after 3 days.
3. Scallions
When you’re trying to re grow scallions, use the roots. Use about an inch of the scallion that is attached to the root and place it into a glass with water. It should be placed somewhere where it will receive a lot of light.
4. Bok Choy
Place the Bok Choy’s root ends in water in a well- lit area. After 1-2 weeks, transplant them to a pot with soil. It will grow a new full head.
5. Basil
Basil can be grown with the basil cuttings. Place these cuttings that still have the stems into 3 to 4 inches of water and place them in an area that is well lit.
Once the basil roots are about 2 inches long, change them into a pot. After some time they will grow completely into a basil plant. To prevent slimy basil, change out the water as often as possible.
6. Romaine Lettuce
Use the bottom of a lettuce head to grow new romaine lettuce. Put stumps of the romaine lettuce in a ½ inch water.
After a few days, once new leaves and roots appear, transplant the romaine lettuce into soil. The leaves can grow up to twice the size. You can also re grow cabbages in the same way.
7. Cilantro
Just by putting the steams of cilantro into a glass with water will allow it to re grow. Once the roots grow long you can change them into a pot with soil.
Put it into a room with an abundant amount of light and in just a couple of months your plant will be grown completely.
8. Garlic
Garlic sprouts can be grown from the garlic clove. New garlic sprouts will have a milder flavor, and can be added to pasta, salads and other dishes. When they begin to sprout, you should place them in a glass with a little water.
