How to Fight a Cold in Just 3 Hours!

For the people who love garlic, this is a plus for you. A new recent study found that eating raw garlic or even chopping it up and adding honey can fight off that horrible cold in 3 hours instead of trying to get rid of it for days.

Research

A small test was done and published by the Journal of Nutrition, which stated that having a meal with just 5 grams of raw garlic increased the levels of genes that work with the production of immune-boosting white blood cells and can fight off cancer cells. This was found in the blood of volunteers just three hours after eating the garlic.

Even though researchers found proof of this, they cannot say if the cold would go away as fast as it was activated in the people tested on. But in previous studies it was proven that garlic does something amazing to fight off these horrible colds.

Another study done in 2012, discovered that people who consumed garlic daily got rid of a cold a lot faster than those who didn’t, as they created more white blood cells causing them to have fewer colds.

Furthermore, a study back in 2001 discovered that individuals who supplemented with garlic were less likely to get a cold and they recovered faster if they did get infected.

How it Works?

So why is garlic so great at fighting a cold? A study explained that nutrients that garlic holds like selenium, certain enzymes, vitamin C and the compounds that contain sulfur are the reason why it fights off colds so easily.

If you don’t mind raw garlic, crush or cut the garlic into pieces and eat them, or you can add a little salad dressing if its too bitter for your tasting. Once the garlic is crushed it releases an alliinase enzyme, it turns into an allicin, which has an antibacterial property.

If you don’t think you can eat it raw you may cook it, just be sure to let it sit ten minutes after you cut it to get all the health benefits from it.

For those of you who can’t stand garlic, there’s also a supplement that is just as effective. Experts suggest using an allicin powder extract, which has been standardized to contain a consistent amount of allicin per pill.
