Lemons are well known for their health benefits. They have become the main fruit in the modern diet, and not just because they’re versatile and delicious, but also because they’ve been shown to be very beneficial to health.
In fact, you’ve probably heard and read about the benefits of drinking hot lemonade first thing in the morning, right?
Besides its many health benefits, a lemon can also be used to treat inflammation and chronic joint pain. Read below to find out how:
Lemons are packed with vitamins and minerals such as Vitamin C, A, B1, B6, magnesium, bioflavonoids, pectin, folic acid, phosphorus, calcium, and potassium. Together, these ingredients can protect you against many diseases and conditions. Regular consumption of lemons provides many positive effects on your stomach, intestines, liver, and the overall immune system.
But how is a lemon peel specifically good for joint pain?
You may not know this, but almost half of the beneficial nutrients in lemons are contained in the peel. Many people just throw away the peel and only use the juice, just because of its bitter taste. So, next time you throw away the peel you should know that you’re throwing away a tremendous amount of nutrients that can help you improve your overall health and even fight joint pain!
So we decided to share the two most effective ways you can use lemon peels to fight chronic joint pain:
Method 1: Finely grate the peel from 1 or 2 lemons, but be careful and only grate the yellow layers, not the white ones. Apply the grated peel on the painful spot, fix it with a bandage and leave it on for two hours before you remove it.
This should help you ease the joint pain.
Method 2: This method is even more effective, but it takes a bit of time to make the mixture. Peel two lemons and put the peels in a glass jar. Pour them with olive oil and leave the jar to stand for two weeks.
Two weeks later when the mixture is ready for use, soak a gauze in this mixture and put it over the painful area. Fix it with a bandage and leave it to act overnight (it is the best to apply this treatment at night so the ointment can soak into the skin while you sleep).
That’s about it… But before you go I want to let you know that my father uses both these treatments so I can assure you that they work miraculously!
Don’t forget to share, as you might help someone in need… Cheers!
