According to psychologists, crying is actually a sign of mental strength.

Crying forces you to confront your feelings, whether when you’re feeling disappointed, sad, angry, or frustrated. And let’s be honest – confronting your emotions is not easy. It’s much easier to suppress those emotions, especially when they’re negative. Doing the opposite requires strength, bravery, and the ability to look inwards.

Some of the strongest people who ever lived – from Martin Luther King Jr. to Nelson Mandela and Emmeline Pankhurst – have went against social expectations. They actually chose to do what was frowned upon at the time.

Although crying can’t get you killed or imprisoned, it still remains an act roundly frowned upon by modern society – for both genders. People believe that men who cry are weak and unmaly, while women who cry are often called crazy or dramatic.

Crying, despite that belief, shows that you’re not afraid to put social convention aside if it means dealing with your overwhelming emotions. That’s strenght, my dear.

By crying openly, you actually liberate people around you. This is especially true if your tears come as a response to a share circumstance. For example, you and a group of friends receive some disturbing news. If you decide to be strong and let your tears fall, the other people will go “Hey, i guess it’s okay to show emotions in this moment.”

By doing this, you’re making yourself a leader – one that people won’t fear judgments from.

4. Crying Shows That You Know How To Offload Stress Before It Breaks You

 

In the world of architecture, strength is much more important than hardiness. A good, sturdy structure relieves stress effectively before it becomes destructive. It’s the same case for a strong person. For most people, crying relieves built up stress that could easily become destructive if not dealt with properly.
