The human body is a biologically balanced system of chemicals, bacteria and cells.

A very good way to tell if this balance is out of whack is to look at your body’s pH level.

But first, you need to know what exactly is your body’s pH level, what does it mean, and how can you tell if there is something wrong with it.

Let’s break it down.

What is it?

The pH level is a measurement of the acidity and alkalinity inside your body. Both of these are important in their own way. For example, your stomach needs high acidity in order to digest foods, while your immune system relies on alkalinity in order to protect the body from external influences.

Better Understand The Measurements

The pH level is measured on a scale from 0 to 14. The lower the number, the higher the level of acidity. It is generally considered that the ideal neutral balance is found at 7 – which is the level your body tries to maintain as it provides your system with the proper environment to function.

What happens quite frequently is that the body gets thrown into a state of increased acidity, which in the long run can have severely damaging effects.

Indicators of High Acidity

This is not as straightforward as spilling some blood on a pH strip, where you get clear results and status. Instead, you must pay careful attention to how your body is working.

1. Excess Weight

Excess acid in your system calls for the creation of extra insulin which results in storing extra fat. Your body’s detox systems are having trouble to deal with the overwhelming amount of acid in your body, thus pushing it back into your fat tissues, where it clings to cells. Also, your metabolism – which relies on proper alkaline levels, has a hard time functioning properly and stops your body from burning calories.

So if you’re having problems with losing weight, it can be a sign that your body has way more acid than it can deal with.

2. Weak Bones

Your body is a clever and efficient system. When it gets faced with too much acid, your body decides to pull alkali from a very sensitive place – your bones. Initially, this is hard to notice, but in the long run, as your body continues to pull important nutrients from your bones – like calcium – you can end up with weak, fragile bones and even osteoporosis.

This is the reasons why doctors ask people who are suffering from osteoporosis to avoid high-acid foods like coffee.

3. Sensitive Teeth

A study published in 2015 by the International Journal of Chemical Engineering and Applications has linked high body acidity to a decrease in tooth enamel strength.

A sign of such weak enamel structure and degradation could be when people experience pain while consuming foods that are too hot or too cold.

4. Sleep Problems

This sign is a really good indicator of how common high body acidity is. It is a well-established fact that Americans are among the most sleep-deprived people in the world, and it is almost certain that high body acidity plays a role in this.

We have already mentioned how your body pulls calcium from your bones in an effort to fight acidity. Well, according to the Human Nutrition Research Center in Dakota, when your calcium levels deplete, you’ll suffer from insomnia.

How to Balance Your Body’s pH Level.

There are a few things you can do in order to balance your body’s pH levels.

1. Diet

An alkaline diet is a very popular method to battle acidity.

Here are foods you should eat plenty of to maintain an alkaline diet:

– Kale
– Broccoli
– Cucumber
– Spinach
– Arugula
– Collards
– Zucchini
– Soybeans
– Tofu
– Nuts
– Seeds
– Legumes
– Raisins

Foods you should avoid, or eat less of:

– Diary
– Eggs
– Meat
– Most grains
– Processed snacks
– Canned foods
– Caffeine

2. Baking Soda and Apple Cider Vinegar

This is one of the best remedies when it comes to balancing your body’s pH levels.

All you need to do is mix one-third a teaspoon of baking soda with 2 tablespoons of organic apple cider vinegar. The mixture will get very fizzy. Wait until it stops fizzing and add 8 ounces of water. Drink the mixture in one gulp.

You should drink this mixture in the morning 30 minutes before breakfast, or if you need it for discomfort caused by a meal, taking it after a meal is fine, too. There is no exact frequency to take this tonic. Some take it once daily, some find it helpful to take it twice daily. It is helpful to be taken daily for a season.

Now that you know more about acidity and alkalinity, and how easy it is to fix it, why don’t you try to do something about it? If you’ve already tried this wonderful mixture, please share your experience with us!

Don’t forget to share this with your friends and family as you might help someone in need!
